If you think Manhattan is disabled accessible try a day in a wheelchair

sidewalk sux

The sidewalk ramp above is not a picture from a construction site, it’s not from a condemned building this is from 5th avenue Manhattan in the mid 20’s just before Union square one of the largest tourist hubs in the greenwhich village. Not only was the ramp totally gone, not only was there a 4 foot deep hole under that witches hat a small child could fall into or the walking stick of injured or disabled person but the angle was extremely steep and what was at the bottom? flat safe road? no a storm drain with a steel grate wide enough for wheelchair wheels, walker or walking stick legs to fall straight into!
We rolled from 23rd st to 17th st a mere six blocks, and although this was the worst it was not the only one there were at least three others equally destroyed and on two other corners the sidewalk was 10inches hich with no ramp at all. so mr deblasio watcha going to do??

I am a disabled woman who through no fault of my own has wheels under my ass. I rely on the decency and common sense of local, state and federal goverments, as well as the retail community to abide by the disabled access laws and provide adequate ramps, disabled toilets, and not use them as store rooms or broom closets. This blog exists to find the offenders and out them, inform them, and report them if necessary and shame them into doing the right thing when all else fails.
