If you’re on the east coast of America and buried in this snow and like me you’re in wheelchair you don’t have to tolerate bad landlords

If you have had a wheelchair ramp that has looked like this for the last two days

And the super in your building the janitor thinks the stairs are the more important because it’s not like we disabled have a life or a job ?
You don’t have to put up with it.

If your neighborhood has been covered in snow and like mine and the snow ploughs have cleared the road and some good janitors have actually cleared the sidewalk and stoop in front of their buildings guess where the snow they moves builds up? Yep right in a big pile over the curb cut out we use as a ramp?

Mr Diblasio the new mayor of New York says don’t put up with it call 311 ? I hope he has changed 311 because in 2009 I called them and I am still waiting for them to do something.
But he said do it, and keep dialing until you get through. Well there is also my story on how to survive winter in general in a wheelchair below, so hang in there and hope it helps.

I am a disabled woman who through no fault of my own has wheels under my ass. I rely on the decency and common sense of local, state and federal goverments, as well as the retail community to abide by the disabled access laws and provide adequate ramps, disabled toilets, and not use them as store rooms or broom closets. This blog exists to find the offenders and out them, inform them, and report them if necessary and shame them into doing the right thing when all else fails.
