Do doctors ever read charts? Or pay attention to patients?

All my life I have lived with epilepsy, for the last third I have lived with disability culminating with the inability to walk but along the way I have dealt with a multitude of ailments and all along the way doctors have driven me from one script to another and yet I only became sicker by the day.

*In 2000 my doctor said I was lacking vitamin C and told me to eat a grape fruit a day, suddenly my epilepsy went out of control Known medical fact GRAPEFRUIT JUICE NULL AND VOIDS THE CONTROLLING EFFECT OF ANTI CONVULSANT MEDICATION??

*In 2002 I had horrible heart burn My doctor put me on nexium, I was on it for 3 years.

*In the following year I started suffering uncontrollable muscle spasming and burning pain in my muscles, My doctor said My body was not producing magnesium naturally and muscles starved of magnesium spasm painfully so he along with my Nexium and my grapefruit and my tegretol put me on 2000 mgs of magnesium! NEXIUM RETARDS THE BODIES ABILITY TO PRODUCE MAGNESIUM?

*in 2004 I was put on medication for the pain I received from suffering third degrees burns to my lower entire body My epilepsy once again went out of control the meds he put me o have a contraindication NOT TO BE PRESCRIBED TO EPILEPTICS IT NULL AND VOIDS ANTICONVULSANTS MEDS?

And so much more? What happened to old school doctors who actually know their patients, the meds their on the contraindications? Back in Adelaide Australia there was a doctor called DR Bernard J Cormie, he was our family doctor for over 30 years, he in now almost 90. I hadn’t seen BJ as his patients called him for almost 20 years and last time home I was surprised to find out not only is he still alive, he is practicing part time three days a week.
Five minutes into our meeting he recited everything I am on, the contraindications and side effects and he was right? When BJ was told what I was suffering he said “what fool put you on that?”

It takes 5 minutes before you walk into a examination room, with all the computer aids even if something is not your specialty there is an app or website to inform you. We go to doctors because there is an assumption wrong or right that they know what they’re talking about and their business is after all to keep us alive . You can’t make money off a dead patient but if you screwed up the loved ones can sure as hell make money out of you.

I am a disabled woman who through no fault of my own has wheels under my ass. I rely on the decency and common sense of local, state and federal goverments, as well as the retail community to abide by the disabled access laws and provide adequate ramps, disabled toilets, and not use them as store rooms or broom closets. This blog exists to find the offenders and out them, inform them, and report them if necessary and shame them into doing the right thing when all else fails.
