Sweet photo of former Marine being carried by his wife takes off

Former Marine Jesse Cottle and his wife, Kelly, were having photos taken during a family weekend recently, when the photographer, Sarah Ledford, suggested a picture in the water. So Jesse, a double amputee, did what he’s done many times before: He took off his legs and hopped on Kelly’s back so she could carry him in. Ledford took the photo, which she posted to Facebook, where it quickly went viral. “America just fell in love with Jesse and Kelly,” Ledford said. Jesse lost his legs in 2009 in Afghanistan when he stepped on an IED; he and Kelly met while he was recovering. They were married last year. The couple says they’re humbled by the support they’ve received from thousands of people in response to the photo. “We represent a lot of … couples that are going through the same thing, and so it’s just an honor to be able to represent that,” Kelly said.

I am a disabled woman who through no fault of my own has wheels under my ass. I rely on the decency and common sense of local, state and federal goverments, as well as the retail community to abide by the disabled access laws and provide adequate ramps, disabled toilets, and not use them as store rooms or broom closets. This blog exists to find the offenders and out them, inform them, and report them if necessary and shame them into doing the right thing when all else fails.
