Education is every Childs right isn’t it?

We ask ourselves what happened to the days when every child as a rite of passage was walked to their first nervous day of kindergarten because it was their right. The Oliver street school newark new jersey which teaches pre-k through 7 announced they MAY have vacancies for the coming kindergarten school year, so caring parents hopeful of a chance to enroll their child in a good school heard they could get a ticket to qualify you to comeback another day not for guaranteed acceptance but just interview.
80 parents had to camp for two days on the sidewalk for 57 positions? Again the winners didn’t get their kids in they just got an interview!
I have the rare distinction of being the only child ever expelled from my kindergarten, because we were rural folk so I got new cowboy boots to start kindy. It had wooden floorboards so the teacher tried to confiscate my boots because of the noise they made when I walked, the 5 year old me remebering dads threats of the strap if i lost my boots kicked her in shins called her a bugger and ran home. Not my proudest moment but damn they were R.M. WILLIAMS Cuban heeled riding boots they were the best.
Today the average child in 10th grade has a reading level of 4th grade and we ask why, to me it’s obvious we are making what is a right suddenly into about as much chance of happening as winning power ball.
The dark ages were the dark ages because less than 1 in 100,000 people were literate do we want to go back there? In an age where we don’t teach mark twain and we call jay z and icon and we think Shakespeare is a sporting event, we don’t have time to line up on sidewalks over night our children’s right to an education is not, no should not be collateral damage in a sequester. A sequester which is nothing more than republicans and democrats arguing who’s dicks are bigger in their annual budgetary pissing contest.
1 in every 4 men of color is either incarcerated or has been, the government has been cutting education funding systematically for the same amount of years that incarceration of people of color has been increasing, spousal abuse petty crime drug use prostitution teen pregnancy welfare dependency have all gone up in correlation with education funding going down and a decent education no longer it seems being every Childs right this MUST change this MUST stop. It’s ok for politicians to get tough on crime but if they had gotten tough on standing up for education funding just a few years before then getting tough on crime would be unnecessary. Tell your politician if they want their job I want my child to be able to spell job.

I am a disabled woman who through no fault of my own has wheels under my ass. I rely on the decency and common sense of local, state and federal goverments, as well as the retail community to abide by the disabled access laws and provide adequate ramps, disabled toilets, and not use them as store rooms or broom closets. This blog exists to find the offenders and out them, inform them, and report them if necessary and shame them into doing the right thing when all else fails.
