Things that make you go wow from the world of adaptive sports

To most able bodied people if they know anything about adaptive sports, they think we do safe things like tennis and Basketball

 or swimming

and running on what they think are weird looking fins!

believe me to those who play and support thEse sports they are amazing and they take high  levels of skill to master. But to those of us who are in the know, adaptive sports more than other kind in the sporting world can make you go WTF?

If you think the above is hard with wheels under your ass, try doing it as a double amputee!

If climbing with the your chair and ropes isn’t wow enough , how about free climbing with your chair tied to your waist?

For every person who does this and gets  kudos and world attention, there are hundreds more who don’t do it for the applause they do it because its there and they just have to know if they can make it .

The crazy antics of “Wheels Fotheringham” are equally as  mindblowing

Then there are those in the wheelchair community that just cant wait to get somewhere, and cars are just too slow.

These pics are all the stuff dreams for me Dreams are made of but for most nightmares, but Please realise folks whether you do this or simply get up every day and go to work in your wheelchair or with what ever disability you live with by the fact that you have conquered what the universe threw at you and got on with life you are a champon.

The picture below describes my training credo, and when I share it with most disabled it turns out its just how they live.

Author: disabledaccessdenied

I am a disabled woman who through no fault of my own has wheels under my ass. I rely on the decency and common sense of local, state and federal goverments, as well as the retail community to abide by the disabled access laws and provide adequate ramps, disabled toilets, and not use them as store rooms or broom closets. This blog exists to find the offenders and out them, inform them, and report them if necessary and shame them into doing the right thing when all else fails.
